About our Legal Retainer Package
The Soni Legal Strategic Retainer provides Reasonable Access to Soni Legal's lawyers on a monthly basis at a fixed fee, payable monthly in advance. By entering into a retainer agreement with Soni Legal, you consent to and are bound by Soni Legal's Retainer Terms, General Terms of Business and Privacy Policy.
What's included: Advice on commercial contracts, employment law, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and general business legal matters arising in the ordinary course of your business.
What's excluded: The retainer does not cover litigation or dispute resolution, conveyancing and property transactions, debt recovery, insolvency, immigration, estate planning, urgent or after-hours matters, or any matter requiring a barrister or external specialist. These are available under a separate engagement and costs agreement.
Disbursements: The monthly fee covers professional time only. Filing fees, barrister's fees, search fees, and other out-of-pocket expenses are not included and will be quoted separately.
Payment: Fees are due and payable monthly in advance on the monthly anniversary of the date on which the retainer was entered into (for example: if you commenced on the 15th of the month, your monthly fee is due on the 15th of each subsequent month).
Term & Review: This retainer has an initial fixed term of 6 months and continues on a monthly basis until terminated. Soni Legal reviews retainer arrangements every 6 months, with 30 days' written notice given of any fee changes.
Termination: Subject to our general terms of business, after the initial 6 month period, either party may terminate by 30 days written notice. All fees and any work in progress outstanding at the date of termination remain due and payable.
Conflict: If you acquire this retainer for the purpose of conflicting out Soni Legal on an existing matter or a potential matter, and Soni Legal deems that this is the purpose, Soni Legal may, at its sole discretion, summarily terminate the retainer, refuse the mandate, and at Soni Legal's sole discretion, either retain any payments made on the retainer as damages or refund any payments made on the retainer.
Scope changes: Matters falling outside this retainer will be handled under a separate costs disclosure and agreement in accordance with the Legal Profession Uniform Law (NSW).
"Reasonable Access" means access to Soni Legal's lawyers of around two and a half hours per calendar month. Reasonable Access does not guarantee a minimum number of hours, does not accumulate or roll over if unused in any given month, and is subject to lawyer availability and the scope of work set out in this agreement. Any work done in excess of the Reasonable Access threshold in a given month will be discussed with the Client and, if agreed, billed separately at the applicable rates.
